Escanaba, Michigan
was instrumental in the development of the lumber and mining
industries in the upper peninsula. Situated on Bay de Noc and
enjoying excellent weather due to the "Banana Belt" effect, they get
less snow than Lansing.The Sand Point Light House served
the constant lake traffic for the hundreds of tankers that came and
went.
Adjacent to the Sandpoint Lighthouse grounds is the Historical
Museum. The Museum is open May - September and houses
some spectacular artifacts. This Michigan Historic Site is a true
treasure. |
