Ontonagon Water Trail

At one end of the trail are the ruins of a lighthouse at 14 Mile Point just west of Misery Bay. At the other end, off Mineral Point is a shipwreck, the Panama. Along the way are two other lighthouses, the 4 Mile Rock and several rivers. For the adventurous, the Ontonagon River skirts the edge of town. For those who want a river experience but want to avoid wild water, there is the Firesteel River. The current is so gentle that it is perfect for amateurs and those with special needs. If you don't want paddle all the way, there is a launch on the Firesteel and the Flintsteel Rivers out the Lakeshore Dr. to 10 Mile Road. The water trail can be accessed from 13 different launch sites.

The water trail hugs the shoreline in both directions from the Ontonagon Township campground. The Village also maintains a paddle craft landing on Rose Island in the Village where kayakers and canoe buffs can store their vessels while visiting the historic down town.
