Pentwater
Michigan is known as a favorite summer destination to some but, it
is also a great place for a Michigan winter getaway. The
Pentwater Pathways are gorgeous for a summer hike. However,
they are really perfect for winter cross country skiing.
There are 7.2 different trail miles here within the Pere
Marquette State Forest, just south of Pentwater.
Pentwater Pathway Cross Country Ski Area is located in the Pere
Marquette State Forest and is under the care of OCCSA and the
Michigan Wildlife Division of the DNR. It can be enjoyed year round.
It's great for hiking and mountain biking in spring, summer and
fall. With skiing in the winter. The Pathways trail system includes
four loops totaling 15 miles, with beginner to advanced trails. The
trails cover mostly soft rolling hills, are heavily wooded and offer
abundant wildlife.
Access: The sandy dirt area is basically a widened space in the
road.
Restrictions: No motorized vehicles. The trail was built for ski use
and is groomed in the winter. Please snowshoe beside groomed trails
rather than in them.
