wacousta, michigan
The Looking Glass River has played a part in the history of
mid-Michigan since the days when the frontier was marked by U.S. 12
many miles to the south of Wacousta. This small hometown community
on the banks of the Looking Glass River is still vibrant and is the
home of the Summer Celebration that takes place the first weekend in
June every year.
Today there is more going on here than meets the eye. For years locals
and visitors alike have enjoyed the canoe trips on the river,
Clayworks is a local potters guild, the Friday fish fries have been
a favorite for half a century and there are a number of nearby farm
markets for fresh produce.
