St. Louis, Michigan
St. Louis, Michigan is in the heart of Gratiot
County Michigan. The “Geographic Center of the Lower
Peninsula,” St. Louis is located right on M-46 only two miles east
of US-127. The town has a fascinating history including once being
home to the
Magnetic Mineral Springs and bath house, two opera

district architecture has been preserved and many turn of the
century buildings are still in use as businesses and shops.
The history of the region and the history of the development of the town are preserved by the St. Louis Area Historical Society. The exhibits are housed in the old train depot and include a series of 10 Fenton Glass Bells, a Republic Truck and a log cabin that is being restored. The museum is open Thursday 1 - 4 p.m. or by appointment 989-681-3017. www.stlouismi.com/1/stlouis/historical_society.asp .
