Michigan up north - The towns presented here all have a rich history that tells part of the story of Michigan.  While most of these places are too small for a two or three day Michigan road trip, each one is well worth a visit if you are a Michigan history buff.  Make one of these towns the destination for your northern Michigan vacation.  You will discover northern Michigan all over the state.

Some of these places are now ghost towns or have been transformed into attractions,  All of them contributed to the exploration and development of Michigan!  While we get to enjoy these as north Michigan vacation destinations, in many cases, history was made just to get them settled.
