firemans museumCentrally located in Michigan’s Copper Country on the Keweenaw Peninsula, Calumet is a natural hub for touring sites like the historic Cliff Mine and several underground mine tours, as well as natural wonders like the 377-acre Estivant Pines Nature Sanctuary and the spectacular Brockway Mt. Drive.

The Red Jacket Fire Hall, constructed of locally-quarried Jacobsville Sandstone, was built in 1898 and is now the Upper Peninsula Firefighters Memorial Museum, a Keweenaw Heritage Site.

Rock Hounding - This is one of the most unusual geological areas in Michigan.　The 2 billion year old lava formations of the Mid-Continent Rift yield Lake Superior agates along the shore and copper, datolite, and the occasional greenstone inland.

downtownDowntown Calumet, located within a National Historic Landmark District, is an important historic district in Keweenaw National Historical Park.　A stroll through town presents visitors with many examples of late 1800's architecture in its beautifully restored churches, storefront galleries, and the iconic Calumet Theatre.

The Calumet Theatre is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is a Keweenaw Heritage Site, partnering with Keweenaw National Historical Park. www.calumettheatre.com .
